Our Church History

St. Mark MBC was organized on July 15, 1967 by Reverend Coleman Gray, along with a constituency. Services were held in their home with nine initial members.  An inaugural church service was held on August 6, 1967, when the church moved from their home to 405 Territorial Road in Benton Harbor, Michigan. While it was a humble store front, the church continued to grow as the community visited and made the decision to accept Christ, while joining the church.

On November 7, 1971, the assembly marched from the initial location to 802 Pavone Street, where the church currently worships.  After moving to the new location, the church continued as a beacon of hope in the community with accelerated growth.  Reverend Gray finished his race and was preceded by the Assistant Pastor, Reverend John L. Price.  During his tenure as Pastor he served as Chaplain for the Benton Township Police Department, and on the local Ministerial Alliance.  Reverend Price finished his work after serving roughly thirty years as the Senior Pastor and God called him home.

God appointed Elder Donald E. Green, Sr. as the Under Shepherd, after the loss of Pastor Price. Through the leading of God, vision has been given to Pastor Green to move forward with another relocation project, to 300 Martin Luther King Drive.  We are excited about what God is doing, as we continue walking by faith and not by sight.  To God be the glory for the things He is doing.
